Obligatory page of Links:
Cycling Links:
Bike Sport - This is the bike store I use. It's full of great people and great bikes.
Harris Cyclery - This is Sheldon Brown's site. It's an amazing site with a TON of useful bike info.
Chain Reaction Cycles - This site is run by a guy named Mike. He's a regular contributor to rec.bicycles.tech and his site if pretty informative as well.
Cycle Touring Links:
Team Snail - Nice site about a couples' tour through southern France.
Tour Tales - Page with Bicycle Touring Stories and info.
Cycle Tourist - Good stories from Chuck Anderson
Crazy Guy on a Bike - This was a very entertaining journal of one guys trip across America.
The Skeptic's Progress - I enjoyed this journal as well, although I can't say I agree with his politics!
Bicycling Uganda by Eric Mathurin - This is one of my favorite on-line bicycle journals. This guy did a tour of Uganda, Africa and (according to correspondence he had with me) said he was inspired to cycle Africa after reading The Masked Rider by Neil Peart. That is the book (and Neil is the guy) that inspired me to start cycling.
Cycle Touring Books:
The Masked Rider by Neil Peart - This is the book and Neil is the person who inspired me to start cycling.
Miles from Nowhere by Barbara Savage - This is the ultimate cycle touring journal. I have read it at least twice and purchased it as a gift for three of my friends. If you read any cycle touring book, this should be the one. Oh, if you get this book, DO NOT READ THE BACK COVER until you are done with the book. It's really important, IMO, in order to fully enjoy it.
Hey Mom, Can I Ride My Bike Across America?: Five Kids Meet Their Country by John S. Boettner - This is about a school teacher who takes five of his students (around 12 year old?) on a cross-country bicycle tour.
Where
the Pavement Ends : One Woman's Bicycle Trip Through Mongolia, China &
Vietnam by Erika Warmbrunn - The title says it all.
Places LeAnne and I have been for fun:
|
|
Las Cruces
|
Petrified Forest National Park Birmingham
|
|
Roanoke
|
|
|
I'm only going to include cities I've slept overnight or spent significant recreational time in but even if we just drove through a state it's listed. Both LeAnne and I have been to Dallas but since we were there separately and both on business I'm not going to count it! Plus we've each traveled to many places before we met but since this is our web page, those places aren't listed.
