Cody

Cody belonged to my wife's parents and has had a pretty traumatic life.  First his mom (my wife's mom) passed away from cancer in 1999 and then, three years later his dad (my wife's father) was killed in a car accident.  Cody is a walking miracle.  He was in the car when it crashed and survived without a scratch.  According to the DPS officer on the scene and the wrecker driver who towed the car after the accident, Cody refused to leave the car.  The windows were all broken and it rained extremely hard that evening.  The next day my wife and I drove out to Columbus, Texas (near where the wreck occurred) to get Cody and the poor guy was in the front seat of the car at the storage lot soaking wet and in a state of shock.  Fortunately as soon as he saw LeAnne he perked up.

After about six weeks he finally started to feel at home.  Now he barks at the mailman and growls when anyone knocks on the door just like he owns the place.  He does get anxious when we leave, however.  I'm sure he's worried that he'll be left again.

He and Bailey get along as long as food is not involved.  If we are eating and Cody gets too close Bailey starts to bark to make sure Cody knows who's boss!  Also, if Bailey is in LeAnne or my lap, he will bark at Cody.  I keep telling Bailey that he needs to teach Cody how to guard the house so he can sleep more.
